The boat journey from the Thai-Laos border crossing, down the Mekong into Luang Prabang is one of the most beautiful boat journeys I’ve done. Moreover I met a bunch of people that would at a minimum become particularly familiar faces over the following weeks, and at best some of the silliest backpackers that helped me have a spectacular birthday (you’ll have to wait for a future post for that)
